Questions Lloydminster Customers Ask About Auto Body Repairs

At Darv’s Autobody in Lloydminster, we love answering the many questions that come our way. Some we hear quite often, so we have included them on our website. If you are unable to find an answer to your question, please feel free to contact us at any time.

Q: What should I do when I have an accident?

A: After you have determined everyone is safe and uninjured, take out your cell phone and take pictures of your car and the other car's damages. Take a photo of the other driver's license, registration and plate. If there are injuries, police and emergency responders need to be called. If the damage is over $2,000.00, you will also need a police sticker.

What to do next…

If you are an Alberta resident, call your insurance broker, they will help you through the next steps, such as where to take your car for an estimate, or whether they will come to you.

Saskatchewan residents should call SGI or go to SGI Auto eClaim to register your claim online. As an accredited SGI repair facility we may be able to write the estimate for you.

Q: Do you have loaner vehicles available?

A: Unfortunately, no, sorry. There is not an auto body repair shop in Lloydminster that offers loaner vehicles at this time. Fortunately, if you were in an accident that was not your fault, then the insurance company of the driver at fault will usually cover your rental costs. It is also a good idea to have rental coverage, as the wait time to get in to any Lloydminster auto body shop can be upwards of two to six weeks.

Q: How long will my vehicle be in the shop?

A: The length of time your vehicle is in our shop is usually dependent on the type of repairs to be completed. Bumper replacements usually take one business day to pre-paint and install and small repairs are typically a minimum of three days. For major damage, we will provide you with an estimate on how long the repair should take.

Q: When do I need a police sticker?

A: A police sticker is required if the damage is over $2,000.00.

Q: How do I get an estimate?

A: You may stop by our shop anytime, between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, to receive a free estimate. On average, estimates take as little as 15 minutes, so they can be completed while you wait.

Q: Can you repair the new aluminum body Ford F-150, and other aluminum vehicles?

A: Yes, we can. Our staff are fully I-CAR trained for aluminum body work, including the new Ford F-150. We have invested in new, specialized aluminum repair equipment to do the job right, and we have renovated the shop to include an aluminum clean room to prevent corrosion and aluminum/steel cross contamination.
